Scarce. Robert Mapplethorpe’s career wouldn’t have been the same without Rob Jurka, the Dutch gallery owner who introduced the controversial photographer in Europe exhibiting for the first time many of his (now) world-renowned photographs. Following an early Mapplethorpe monograph from 1979, Jurka also published the first Black Males catalogue as part of the homonymous exhibition he organized in 1980, including an essay by Edmund White. In addition, this copy is unique as the binder forgot to keep the same size of the book in comparison to other Black Males copies, and, as a result, the book is larger. Highly recommended.
